This summer, I will be going with 15 other students and Cru staff on a summer mission trip to Prague, Czech Republic (May 15 to June 18). We will have the opportunity to be some of the very first people to ever talk about Jesus with Czech students. This is a unique opportunity for me to develop spiritual leadership and ministry skills to make a Christ-centered impact back on my campus and for the rest of my life. About 91% of 16-29-year-olds in the Czech Republic identify with no religion. To make this issue even more complicated, Czech children believe they receive presents from Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve. They only know Jesus as the baby who brings them Christmas presents, which is similar to how we see Santa. 

Our team will be getting to know high school students through conversational English lessons in their local high schools, initiating conversations with University students on two campuses, meeting with students one-on-one or in small groups to discuss the meaning of life, and hosting events for Czech students to gather and be exposed to Christian community. At the same time, I will be in a small group Bible study and discipleship group with others on my team. I’m excited to grow closer in my relationship with God, grow in my ability to share my faith, and to see how God will work in and through our team!
